Recipes with Zesty Meatball Spice Blend

Freeform Italian Sausage Patties

3/4 pound ground beef

1/2 pound ground pork

2 Tablespoons Zesty Meatball Spice Blend

Salt to taste

Using a light hand, combine all ingredients thoroughly.  Taste for salt by cooking a small amount in a skillet (or zap in microwave); adjust seasoning as desired.

Form mixture into 3-4 inch patties or shape any way that strikes you. Fry in a skillet, browning each side and being sure to cook through.

Alternately, you might wish to simply fry the loose mixture, drain, and add to tomato sauces or sprinkle over pizza.

Zesty Meatballs

1 1/4 pound ground beef

1/2 pound ground pork

2 eggs

1 cup soft breadcrumbs

1/4 cup Zesty Meatball Spice Blend

1 teaspoon salt, more or less to taste

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.  Check for seasoning by cooking a small amount in a skillet or the microwave; taste and adjust, if necessary.

Preheat oven to 350.

Position a rack over a roasting pan (a broiler pan is ideal for this) so that the fat from the meatballs will drip away.  Form meat mixture into balls that are a size to suit your taste.  Tiny meatballs are nice for soup, larger ones are great in sandwiches.

Bake for 15-25 minutes, depending on size.  To check, just cut one in half and see if it is cooked through.

Any extra cooked meatballs can be stored in the freezer.
